Qatar will start disbursing financial assistance for 60,000 needy families in Gaza Strip on Thursday.
This was announced by Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador HE Mohammed al Emadi.
In a statement on Wednesday, Emadi said an assistance of $100 for each family would be distributed according to the previously used mechanism — through post offices in the provinces of the sector.
“After examining the matter with the competent ministries and authorities, and in order to maximise the benefit of the Qatari grant funds, $6 million has been allocated to help poor families and another $4 million to implement other sustainable projects that will be announced later,” he said.
Emadi pointed out that the process of selecting the beneficiaries would be through the Ministry of Social Development, from the approved lists that conform to the terms of use of the grant.
