New taxi fares announced in Oman

New taxi fares have been declared in Oman by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), reported TimesofOman.

All orange and white taxis will likewise get electronic meters by June 2019.  The fares, authorities stated, will begin at 300 baisa. After the first kilometre, customers will be charged 130 baisa for each additional km.

The Ministry stated, "As a component of the usage of the Land Transport Law No. 102016, ministerial decision No. 952018 stipulates the vehicle admissions for public taxis. In the event of more than one traveler, customer should share the meter sum and 50 baiza will be charged every moment for waiting.”

Authorities included that should a cab driver neglect to turn on the meter, the ride will be deemed free and customers will not have to pay a fee.
