Mentally-ill student attacks university staff in Oman

Two staff members at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) sustained light injuries after a 28-year-old student attacked them on Sunday morning, according to the university’s official twitter handle.
The student, in his fifth year at the College of Science, entered the Deanship of Administration and Registration building and attacked staff causing damage to some of the office equipment and furniture.
The university dismissed claims that the student had a weapon. Pictures of the incident went viral on social media platforms.
The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, but the university said the student suffered from mental illness.
The student is being held in their custody for further interrogation.
