The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs announced that the moon was not sighted to mark the first day of Muharram or the Islamic New Year 1438 AH on Sunday. The first day of Muharram will be on Monday, which will also be a day off for employees in ministries and public bodies and other units of the administrative apparatus of the state and private sector employees.
Most of the schools had sent circulars on Thursday requesting parents to follow the media for holiday declaration
