7 NPA rebels, 24 mass base supporters and 20 members of the Militia ng Bayan surrender to PH Army in Masbate

Seven members of the NPA and 44 mass base supporters/militia operating in the island province of Masbate surrendered to the government on Monday

 

They will be given financial and livelihood assistance as well as entitlement to other government programs for ex-rebels

Seven New People’s Army (NPA) rebels and 44 of their supporters surrendered to the Philippine Army in Milagros town, Masbate on Monday.

 From the 44, 24 were mass base supporters while 20 were members of the Militia ng Bayan (People’s Militia).

The surrenderers were formally presented to Maj. Gen. Jesus Manangquil Jr., 9th ID commander, in a ceremony held at the 2nd Infantry Battalion headquarters at Barangay Bacolod.

They were formally received and welcomed by the 9th Infantry (Spear) Division, LGU-Masbate, and partner agencies.

They surrendered two M16 rifles, an M1 Garand rifle, three .38-caliber revolvers and a .45-caliber pistol.

According to Maj. Gen. Jesus Manangquil Jr., 9th ID commander, the surrenderers will be given financial and livelihood assistance and will be listed in the Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
