Strong earthquake strikes central Philippines

The quake struck at a depth of 40km, prompting the evacuation of central offices.

An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude struck the central Philippines on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake struck at 5.11pm local time (0911 GMT) at a shallow depth of 40 kilometres (25 miles), prompting the evacuation of central offices.

 

A witness in the capital, Manila, said offices were swaying in the business district of Makati City.
