Lyrid Meteor Shower to Illuminate Saudi Skies

The Noor Astronomical Society announced exciting news today. The Lyrid meteor shower will illuminate skies across Saudi Arabia soon. This spectacular natural event peaks during Wednesday night and Thursday dawn.

An Ancient Astronomical Phenomenon

The society called this shower a very ancient astronomical phenomenon. Astronomers first recorded these specific meteors around 2,700 years ago. Historical records track this exact shower back to 687 BC. This rich history makes it one of our oldest recorded showers.

How to Watch the Meteors

Society President Issa Al-Ghafili shared helpful viewing tips today. He stated that stargazers need absolutely no advanced telescopes. You can view this incredible phenomenon easily with your naked eye.

Viewers must simply find open locations away from bright city lights. The best viewing window lasts from midnight until early dawn.
