Experts have predicted the planet will be rendered totally barren by as early as 2200 – so just 182 years from now.

Humanity will be forced to leave the planet as temperatures reach levels mankind cannot possibly survive in.

Scientists made the prediction in a white paper titled Astrobiology Science Strategy for the Search for Life in the Universe prepared for the National Academy of Sciences in the US.

Mankind had been expected to be able to live on Earth for thousands of years – but the team of experts believe we will have to start planning for life among the stars.

Global warming, nuclear winter, pandemics, asteroid impacts and AI are all warned as possible contributors to mankind’s doom.

Earth will cease to be welcoming to human life by as early as 2200, and by as late as 2400, the scientists said.

So that means your great grandchildren could be forced to leave Earth one day – if the boffins are correct.

"Ecologically catastrophic warming beyond the heat stress tolerance of animals may occur by 2200-2400,” the paper said.

The scientists called on NASA to establish a focus group examining the future of Earth.

They also encourage the space agency to keep looking for other habitable planets for mankind.

NASA could even use projections for mankind’s doom to help them in their hunt for alien life, scientists said.

Predictions of civilisations end within the next few hundred years were said to be based on the current course of mankind.

It could be possible major discoveries for clean energy could slow down the planet’s warming.

Previously, experts predicted mankind will be “burned alive” by climate change.
