Brook fell 26 runs short of matching the Indian batter's impressive tally. Despite Brook's early exit, England had little trouble chasing down Sri Lanka's 145-9. The team reached 146-4 in only 12.1 overs to secure the victory.
This win gives England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Tom Banton finished unbeaten on 52 from just 24 balls faced. He struck four sixes as England continued their outstanding T20 form this summer. Brook arrived at the crease with England already flying after a strong start. Jos Buttler and debutant Aneurin Donald had put on 51 from just 4.3 overs.

Buttler made 30 from 16 balls while Donald contributed 21 from 13 deliveries. Both players fell within four balls of each other during the innings. Tilak Varma broke the record for most runs between dismissals in January 2025. He achieved this milestone during India’s second T20 match against England in Chennai. Banton made the most of his opportunity after missing out in the first match.
He struck the ball cleanly, finding the boundary repeatedly to finish the chase. England have now won 22 of their past 25 completed T20 internationals.
