Pakistan: Batsman Dies After Being Hit By Bouncer

Zubair Ahmed, a Pakistani batsman died from an injury sustained to his head from a bouncer in a match in Mardan. The fatal incident took place on August 14th. Zubair played for Quetta Bears, a T20 team, while also playing four List A matches.
 

 

The Pakistan cricket board confirmed the new on Wednesday and expressed its sadness on the passing away of Zubair, and also stressed on the fact that helmets must be worn in all circumstances. The news comes at a time when a similar incident occurred at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as Australian batsman David Warner was hit by a bouncer on his neck at an intra-squad training session.
 
Player safety has become an important topic of discussion since the passing away of Phillip Hughes who died from injuries sustained to his skull while playing a domestic match in Sydney in November 2014.
