Some iPhone X screens are freezing in the cold, Apple working on fix

Apple has gone on record to confirm that some iPhone X units may be susceptible to unresponsive (touch) screens in cold weather. Cupertino is actively working on a fix that will be rolled out via a software update in the days to come. Note that Apple clearly states on its official website that all iPhones have an optimum temperature range, going below or above, of which may result in them having issues.

A sudden rise or fall in ambient temperature may temporarily shorten battery life and could cause an iPhone to turn off, says Apple. Having said that, the iPhone X is Apple's latest, greatest and the most expensive iPhone ever, hence Apple seems to be going the extra mile in ensuring users have a seamless experience when aboard, at all times.

Reports of the iPhone X freezing in the cold started popping up a few days ago -- on Reddit -- wherein users complained that it "literally takes 2 seconds from going inside to the cold outdoors and my screen stops being very responsive. I try swiping on websites and it doesn't register my finger. It's very noticeable." Some speculations say it could be because of change in light intensity between indoors and outdoors, while some say it could because of using the said iPhone at below optimum temperature. Whatever be the case, Apple is already at work on a fix, and quite possibly the company will also out a possible reason why the iPhone X screens are freezing in the cold, in the days to come.

"We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update," Apple was quoted as saying by the Loop .

Apple says the iPhone X is the future of the smartphone : a future wherein all smartphones would be long continuous sheets of glass with an edge-to-edge display and no physical buttons. While companies like Samsung and LG and Xiaomi have already embraced the future, Cupertino major Apple just joined the bandwagon of all screen and no bezel phones, with the iPhone X: a phone that also marks an important milestone in the history of the company in question. The iPhone X -- pronounced as iPhone ten -- exists to commemorate ten years of the iPhone.

While issues with hardware are fairly common, it is widely felt that Apple takes extra care while designing its new products. Such issues seem to suggest no technology -- even Apple's -- is one hundred percent perfect, just like its new iPhone isn't one hundred percent all screen and no bezels.
