Apple Launches First Touchscreen MacBook Pro: UAE Prices and Features

Apple has introduced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, marking a major change in the company’s approach to Mac laptops. The redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models feature a new tandem OLED display, upgraded M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, and touch controls that work alongside the keyboard and trackpad. Early hands-on reviews describe the touchscreen as responsive and smooth, although traditional controls remain central to the experience. Pre-orders opened in the UAE on October 28, 2026, with deliveries and store availability scheduled for November 6. The starting price for the 14-inch touchscreen model is Dh11,999.

Touchscreen Features and Early Reviews

The new MacBook Pro allows users to scroll, zoom, move windows, adjust controls and draw directly on the display. Apple has integrated touch sensors into the screen to improve responsiveness, while macOS supports touch input across many existing applications. However, early reviewers note that the operating system has not been completely redesigned for finger-based use. The keyboard and trackpad remain the primary input methods, and the laptop does not support Apple Pencil. The touchscreen is therefore best viewed as an additional convenience rather than a complete replacement for traditional controls.

OLED Display and Design Improvements

One of the biggest upgrades is the new PROLED XDR tandem OLED display, which delivers deeper blacks, vivid colours and improved contrast compared with the previous mini-LED panel. Apple claims peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits and an adaptive refresh rate reaching 120Hz. Buyers can choose between standard glossy glass and an optional nano-texture finish designed to reduce reflections. The redesigned laptops are also lighter, while the familiar display notch has been replaced by a Dynamic Island-style feature for calls, music controls and live activities. These changes could appeal particularly to creative professionals.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro Prices in the UAE

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip starts at Dh11,999, while the 16-inch version costs Dh14,499. Higher-performance M5 Max models begin at Dh19,299 for the 14-inch variant and Dh20,999 for the 16-inch model. UAE prices include five per cent VAT, and education pricing is available on all four configurations. For buyers who do not need touch controls or the new OLED panel, Apple has also introduced a standard 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, starting at Dh8,499. The touchscreen models will reach stores and customers on November 6.
