WhatsApp is bringing out new goodies to make sure that users don't abandon its ship, post its announcement to monetize the platform with WhatsApp for Business move.

It has now released the user-centric Picture-in-Picture video calling and text status update features. These features were already available to beta users but with its roll out to stable builds, everyone will get it.

What is it about?

The new Picture-in-Picture video calling feature, dubbed PiP, will allow you to make video calls and send messages to other users at the same time.

It's a nifty update, considering earlier once you were in a video call, the entire app would just show the other person's face and you had no way to receive or send communication from others.

How to use it?

Now that this feature is here, you can resize the video screen so that you can message others while still being on the video call.

The resized screen gets placed on one corner of the mobile screen and the background shows the chat box.

You can resize the video screen and drag it to any part of the screen, according to your convenience.

Text status update feature

We already get to share pictures and videos as our WhatsApp statuses, which vanish after 24 hours. Now, we'll be able to share a text status following the same principle.

Once you go to the status update option, you'll see a pencil icon at the bottom right. Click on it, write a status, add emojis, choose a background and press the green go button.
