UAE astronaut shares stunning photo of Makkah, Grand Mosque from space

Emirati astronaut Hazzaa Al Mansoori shared a breathtaking picture of the holiest site in Islam - The Grand Mosque (Masjid Al Haram) in Saudi Arabia's Makkah.

Taking to Instagram, the first UAE astronaut in space took the picture as he orbits around in the International Space Station - nearly 350km above Earth.

Paying tribute to the holy city of Makkah and the Grand Mosque, Hazzaa captioned the picture 'as the place that lives in the hearts of Muslims and they turn to for prayers.'

Earlier he had posted a picture of UAE from space.

AlMansoori shared the picture with a description saying, "happiest astronaut to the happiest nation...this is history, this is the UAE from space".

Hazzaa was also seen sporting the traditional Emirati attire while at the International Space Station, earlier today.

He is the first Emirati in space and the first Arab on the International Space Station (ISS) to be seen wearing the traditional white kandoora paired with a white ghutra (headgear).
