A Full List of Banned and Controlled Medicines in Dubai and the UAE

People who travel to the UAE for tourism or for business, it is important that you are aware of medicines that are banned from being carried by any individual entering the country.

Tramadol could be prescribed by doctors from other countries but bringing it into the UAE is a criminal offence. People committing offenses for carrying banned drugs is mostly due to them not knowing the law. They may be ignorant that the drug they are carrying is “banned”. Even traces of these medication in your blood or urine are not allowed.

So if you are taking medication prescribed by your doctor (from your country) and are planning to come to Dubai, it is imperative that you bring the prescription. It is also important that the quantity of your medication should be justified according to regular intake and duration of your stay.

Medications Prohibited from being brought into the UAE

The UAE Ministry of Interior and International Narcotic Controlled Board (INCB) enforced the registered list of Controlled Medicines and Medications provided by the Ministry of Health in the UAE.

One must have a prescription from a UAE licensed doctor for medical or emergency reasons that they carry any medicine. One must also carry a doctor’s prescription and have a detailed medical report attested by a notary public if the treatment was done outside the UAE.
