OFW father-daughter heartwarming dance at NAIA goes viral

Noel Limon, an OFW in the Middle East, was supposed to surprise his daughter during her 18th birthday, but the tables got turned after he missed the actual party due to delayed flight caused by the plane that skidded off a runway at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last August 18.

Noel, who flew all the way from Kuwait, was instead fetched by his daughter Lindsay at the airport right after her party. She was still dressed in her yellow-ball gown when she decided to head straight to the airport to see her father and danced with him to complete her special day. Noel was surprised by his daughter’s sweet gesture.

“Dapat po isu-surprise nila ako na uuwi si Papa for my birthday kaso nga po na-delay na ang flight niya at darating siya sa Pinas ng 12:50 a.m. Kaya after ng debut ko dumiretso po kami sa airport,” Lindsay told The Filipino Times.

In a heartwarming video that made the rounds online, Lindsay can be seen giving her father a tight hug when he arrived. Then they hold hands and dance at the arrival area. Tears run down the face of his beloved father.

She uploaded the video of their dance on Facebook to show her appreciation towards her father, who has been working abroad for 20 years as a professional gym trainer.

“In-upload ko po y’un para po sa tatay ko. It’s an appreciation post for him. Nagulat ako nung nag-viral kasi ‘di ko in-expect na ma-appreciate ng mga tao at ng mga OFW yung post ko,” Lindsay told TFT.

Lindsay hopes that children of OFWs would appreciate their parents more as they work hard overseas. “Kapag umuwi yung parents natin, pahalagahan natin yung bawat araw na magkakasama tayo. Appreciate their hardwork doon kasi alam naman natin na hindi madaling magtrabaho doon at mapalayo sa atin. Let’s make them proud kahit sa simpleng paraan lang kasi kasiyahan nila y’un. And don’t forget to message them at all times,” Lindsay said.

“Tsaka ‘pag tumatawag sila sagutin din natin kasi y’un din ang isa sa mga nakakatanggal ng pagod at stress nila sa work. Lastly, mahalin natin mga magulang natin,” she added.
