Actor Kamal Haasan was embroiled in another controversy as a case of criminal defamation was filed against him in a Chennai court saying that he degraded a community on the TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ which aired on July 14th.
The complaint against him is on the grounds that ‘Nadaswaram’, a highly revered musical instrument was seen being thrown around from hand-to-hand by actor Sakthi with a casual intent, as stated by the president of the Isai Vellalar community K R Kuhesh. The hearing of the case has been set to September 1st.
He added that while the participants were dining at the table, the “God-like” instrument was kept callously on the table which offended the religious sentiments of the Isai Vellalar community.
The petitioner raised concerns that in spite of knowing that their actions will have consequences; the Channel, Sakthi, Haasan, and the ‘Big Boss’ producers still continued with the events of the episode, furthermore refrained from a sincere apology.
Allegedly, they had intentionally created the drama for the sake of TRP and thus should be condemned and prosecuted.
