NORTH Korea has fired four high-powered missiles towards east Asia, fuelling world war fears.
Days after President Donald Trump ordered a White House review of North Korea’s nuclear ambitions,Kim Jong-un’s state released a series of unidentified projectiles from its military base in Tongchang-ri.
South Korea’s military originally reported that one projectile had landed in the sea off North Korea's east coast.
But later confirmed that three of the four missiles had landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone.
Japanese officials described the launches as a grave threat and said they lodged “strong protests” with nuclear-armed North Korea.
In parliament questions, Shinzo Abe, the prime minister of Japan said: “The launches are clearly in violation of Security Council resolutions. It is an extremely dangerous action.
The missiles are believed to be deadly intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), though analysis is still pending.
The secretive state previously an ICBM days after Trump’s inauguration in January from the city of KusÅÂÂÂng – which was deemed a direct warning to the US leader.
