Sushma Swaraj Asks For Report On Attack On Swiss Couple Near Agra

A young Swiss couple was attacked by a group of young men with sticks and stones and left wounded on a road near Agra on Sunday, a day after they visited the Taj Mahal. Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has asked for a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the brutal assault, which has left the man with severe head injuries.

One of the four attackers has been arrested, according to news agency ANI.

Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droxz, both 24, had come from Lausanne in Switzerland for a visit to Agra on September 30.

After visiting the Taj, they were in Fatehpur Sikri on Sunday when they were stalked and harassed by four men.

The group had started following them from the railway station and kept passing comments. The couple has told the Times of India that the men blocked their way and forcibly took selfies with the woman.

Later, the same men hit Mr Clerc repeatedly with a stick until he fell to the ground. Ms Droxz was also attacked and her arm was fractured.
