Dubai Gold Prices Dip Ahead of Dhanteras 2026 as Shoppers Choose Lightweight Jewellery

Dubai's gold market is witnessing changing buying trends as Indian communities across the UAE celebrate Dhanteras and prepare for Diwali 2026. On November 6, 22-karat gold was priced at Dh451.50 per gram, while 24-karat gold stood at Dh487.50. Compared with last year's Diwali rates, gold is approximately Dh25 cheaper per gram for 24-karat jewellery. Despite the lower prices, customers are carefully managing their festive shopping budgets. Many shoppers are focusing on affordable designs rather than purchasing heavier gold ornaments.

Lightweight Jewellery Becomes a Popular Choice

Jewellers across Dubai are noticing growing interest in lightweight gold chains, smaller bangles and modern jewellery collections. Traditional 22-karat gold continues to attract Indian buyers, particularly for festivals, weddings and gifting. However, diamond pendants, coloured gemstones and everyday jewellery are also gaining popularity. Customers increasingly prefer ornaments that can be worn regularly instead of being reserved for special occasions. This trend reflects changing shopping preferences as buyers balance cultural traditions with affordability.

How Are Buyers Managing Changing Gold Rates?

Gold prices have experienced considerable fluctuations throughout 2026, making festive purchases more challenging for some households. Instead of completely delaying their purchases, many customers are choosing fewer grams of gold while maintaining their planned budgets. Some shoppers are also exchanging old jewellery or exploring advance-payment schemes offered by retailers. These options can help customers manage their spending, although making charges and other costs should also be considered. Jewellers believe festive demand will remain strong despite uncertainty surrounding international gold prices.

Will Dubai Gold Prices Fall Further?

The future direction of gold prices remains uncertain, with international market movements, US interest rates and currency changes influencing the precious metal. Central bank purchases and demand for physical gold could also support prices in the coming months. Retailers remain optimistic about Dhanteras and Diwali sales, particularly with the wedding season approaching. Buyers are encouraged to compare daily rates, jewellery-making charges and exchange policies before making purchases. While the recent price decline offers some relief, shoppers are adapting their choices to enjoy the festive tradition without exceeding their budgets.
