Global Oil Surge Raises Concerns Ahead of Monthly Fuel Price Announcement
Motorists across the UAE could face another increase in petrol and diesel prices in November as international crude oil costs remain elevated. Brent crude, a key global oil benchmark, climbed above $116 per barrel in late October, driven by concerns over Middle East tensions and possible disruptions to energy shipments. Although prices have fluctuated in recent trading sessions, the broader upward trend has increased the likelihood of higher fuel costs. The final adjustment will depend on international oil and refined-fuel prices during the monthly review period.
Current UAE Petrol and Diesel Prices
For October 2026, Super 98 petrol costs Dh4.40 per litre, Special 95 is priced at Dh4.28, and E-Plus 91 stands at Dh4.21. Diesel is selling for Dh4.80 per litre. These rates followed a substantial increase from September, putting additional pressure on household budgets and transport expenses. A 60-litre fill of Special 95 currently costs Dh256.80, compared with Dh221.40 in September. Any further increase in November could raise the cost of regular refuelling for commuters and businesses operating vehicles across the country.
Middle East Tensions Keep Oil Markets Uncertain
Geopolitical developments remain a major factor influencing global energy prices. Concerns about the security of shipping routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, have contributed to volatility in crude markets. Higher tanker insurance and transportation costs are also increasing the expense of moving oil internationally. However, the recovery of some Gulf oil exports and occasional declines in crude prices could help limit further increases. The direction of the market will depend on whether supply concerns ease or fresh disruptions place additional pressure on global energy availability.
What UAE Motorists Should Expect in November
The UAE reviews retail fuel prices every month in line with international market conditions. While October's elevated crude prices point towards possible upward pressure, an exact November increase cannot be confirmed before the official announcement. For illustration, a rise of 10 fils per litre would add Dh6 to a 60-litre tank, while a 20-fils increase would add Dh12. These figures are examples rather than price forecasts. Motorists can manage expenses by planning fuel budgets, comparing travel costs and following the official monthly price announcement.
