Qatar’s Saud al Mohannadi elected FIFA council member

Qatar Football Association (QFA) Vice President Saud al Mohannadi has been elected a member of the International Association of Football Federations (FIFA) council for the 2019-2023 session.

Mohannadi received 37 of the 46 votes in the polls held on the sidelines of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress in the Kuala Lumpur.

Mohannadi said his election was a victory for all Qataris and vowed to raise the name of Qatar and Asia high.

The new FIFA council member dedicated his victory to Qatar’s leadership and to everyone who has helped and supported him, particularly QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al Thani.

Hassan al Thawadi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, who led a delegation to Kuala Lumpur, congratulated Mohannadi and said his victory added to a series of successes of Qatar in the sporting world.
