Bank account of Nepali expat hacked

A 31-year-old Nepali, who lives in the (Mahboula) Kuwait, has filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentified person of withdrawing all money from his bank account, reports Al-Anba daily.

A security source said the victim told police ‘someone’ called him on ‘Viber’ and said he had won KD 20,000 prize money and requested for his bank account number and the secret number. A few minutes later the victim discovered his balance was zero. He said he had 213 dinars in his account.

A security source has called upon citizens and residents not to fall prey to such tricks and stressed no one should at any time give the account number and the secret number, which are the standing instructions of the banks. The source added, to trace such calls is a very complicated matter because these are organized networks. However, the source said regional and international efforts are being made to prosecute such thieves.
