Kuwait Court Delivers Death Sentence
A criminal court in Kuwait has sentenced a Bangladeshi expatriate to death after finding him guilty of the premeditated murder of his friend. The case reportedly began with a disagreement over photographs of the defendant’s wife that had been shared on Facebook. According to prosecutors, the victim refused to remove the pictures despite repeated requests. The court delivered its ruling on Tuesday, November 3, following proceedings in which the defendant admitted his involvement in the crime.
Dispute Began Over Photographs Shared Online
During the proceedings, the defendant told the court that the victim had taken photographs of his wife during an earlier visit and later uploaded them to Facebook without permission. He said he became concerned after offensive comments appeared under the pictures and asked his friend to delete them. However, the disagreement reportedly continued, with further photographs being shared online. What began as a personal dispute eventually escalated into a serious criminal case.
Prosecution Presented Evidence of Premeditation
Prosecutors told the court that the defendant had deliberately planned the attack following the disagreement. The victim was targeted outside their workplace, and the injuries sustained during the assault proved fatal. The defendant acknowledged the charges and explained that the two men had previously been friends. After considering the evidence and his admission, the court found him guilty of intentional and premeditated murder.
Court Confirms Conviction and Sentence
The court imposed the death sentence after convicting the defendant of the murder. The case has drawn attention to the serious consequences that can follow disputes involving personal photographs and social media activity. It also highlights the importance of respecting privacy and obtaining permission before sharing another person's images online. The ruling marks the conclusion of the criminal court proceedings reported in this case, with the sentence reflecting the court's findings.
