On an episode of GMA’s Karelasyon aired in 2016, a drunk woman named Chantal was taken advantage of by her ex-boyfriend and his varsity teammates.

The story revolved around Chantal (portrayed by Solenn Heusaff), a liberated girl who stayed in Paris for many years. As a party-goer, she was assumed to be an ‘easy girl’ by those in her community. This reputation branded her as someone undeserving of true love.

Chantal thought that she finally got rid of her stigma when she met and fell in love with with Tristan (portrayed by Ahron Villena). Unfortunately, their love didn’t last as they eventually broke up. However, they remained friends afterwards.

She eventually returned to the Philippines to help her mother launch her restaurant business. She and Tristan often met up even though he was already in a relationship with another girl. When her mother asked about their current state, she said they’re just friends.

She assumed that Tristan wanted to get back together with her so she played with him for a bit. Little did she know that he had darker plans laying in wait.

One fateful night, Chantal and her friend Gina (portrayed by Carla Humphries) went out drinking. While they were on their way home, intoxicated, they bumped into Tristan and his varsity teammates. He then asked if they were interested to come and join them for a round of drinks, to which Chantal said yes.

They led the two girls to a house. Chantal was extremely drunk and could barely walk straight, so she clung to Tristan. Tristan then led the drunken girl to a room as Gina was offered more drinks by the other guys.

When Chantal woke up, she was surprised to see herself naked while Tristan’s arms were around her waist. She stood up and was shocked to see other men inside the room. She picked up her clothes from the floor and then promptly and got out.

When the morning came Chantal’s motehr was curious about her daughter’s behavior. Her mother noticed something off about her so she asked what her problem was. Her daughter’s answer broke her.

“Ni-r*pe nila ako, Ma,” Chantal said while she sobbed into her mother’s shoulder.

Tristan was detained and his girlfriend broke up with him while he was in prison. Unfortunately, the odds weren’t on Chantal’s side as Gina declined to help her with the case. Tristan’s friend, while giving his statement, denied the allegations of r*pe. He said that what happened to Chantal was consensual and that she and Gina started it all.

Afterwards, Chantal suffered from depression which caused her to try and take her own life. Luckily, she was rushed to the hospital in time after her mother saw her. While lying on the hospital bed, Chantal expressed her hopelessness to her mother. Her mother then said: “Anak, kailangan manalo ka. Kailangan ibangon mo ang dangal mo.”
