Shah Rukh Khan's King Secures Rs 665 Crore in Pre-Release Deals Ahead of December 24 Release

King Makes a Strong Start Before Its Theatrical Release

Bollywood superstar **Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King** is attracting major commercial attention even before arriving in cinemas. The action thriller has reportedly secured pre-release deals worth **Rs 6.65 billion (Rs 665 crore)** across theatrical distribution, digital streaming, music and satellite rights. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is scheduled to release on December 24, 2026. These reported agreements have placed the project among the biggest commercial ventures in recent Hindi cinema. However, its final box-office performance will be important in determining its overall financial success.

How King's Rs 665 Crore Pre-Release Deals Are Divided

The reported business includes several major agreements across domestic and international markets. Pen Marudhar has reportedly acquired the Indian theatrical distribution rights for Rs 250 crore, while Dubai-based Phars Films has secured overseas rights for Rs 175 crore. Netflix has reportedly purchased the digital streaming rights for Rs 150 crore. The film's music rights have fetched around Rs 65 crore, with satellite rights contributing another Rs 25 crore. Together, these agreements bring the reported pre-release business to Rs 665 crore, although the streaming deal includes a performance-related condition.

High Production Costs Raise Box-Office Expectations

Despite the impressive pre-release figures, King comes with substantial production and promotional expenses. Its production budget is reportedly estimated at around Rs 400 crore, excluding Shah Rukh Khan's acting fee. Including his estimated notional remuneration could take the overall production cost to approximately Rs 500 crore, with publicity and release expenses adding around Rs 40 crore. Industry estimates suggest the film may need a worldwide box-office collection of approximately Rs 800 crore for its theatrical distribution partners to achieve profitability. These are reported trade estimates, not confirmed financial targets.

Shah Rukh Khan Reunites with Siddharth Anand for King

King brings Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand together again after their successful collaboration on *Pathaan* in 2023. The upcoming film also marks Shah Rukh's first on-screen collaboration with his daughter **Suhana Khan**. The ensemble cast includes Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan in important roles. The film's promotional campaign gained momentum on November 2, when Shah Rukh unveiled its first song on his birthday. With its December 24 Christmas release approaching, King is building considerable anticipation among Bollywood audiences.
