Speeding can be a huge problem in many neighborhoods. One grandmother in particular has had enough of it.
Whether it’s teens trying to show off by ignoring speed limits or commuters who are rushing to work, erratic driving can cause streets to become unsafe for neighbors, children, and pets.
Speed bumps and electronic signs flashing a driver’s speed are a couple ways that local governments have found to help solve the problem. But one grandma has made it her mission to stop speedy drivers, finding an easy and free solution to slow down the speed demons on her block.
Jean, 67, is a grandmother of four who has resorted to going into her garden and pointing her hair dryer at cars that speed down her street. Since it looks like a radar gun from afar, neighbors have said there is a remarkable difference in the speed of cars passing through.
With Jean’s help, parents don’t have to be even more concerned when letting their children play outside. Pet owners can also breathe a sigh of relief knowing cars are driving the speed limit on their homes’ street.
As you’ll see in the video below, when Jean points her hair dryer at a car, the driver immediately slows down. “Look at his brakes go on,” she says after one vehicle passes her.
