3 children, nanny die in UAE road accident

The accident happened on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

Three Emirati children and a nanny died while their mother, who was driving the car, sustained critical injuries after their speeding vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a lamp post in  Abu Dhabi's Al Falah district on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

The deceased included a 15-year-old boy and his 12 and 11-year-old sisters. Lt Col Abdullah Al Suwaidi, deputy director of the Department of External Zones at Abu Dhabi Police Department of Traffic and Patrols, said the preliminary probe showed that the woman was driving recklessly and lost control of the car. She didn't have a licence, he revealed.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that driving without a licence is a serious violation, which entails legal accountability.

He called on motorists to abide by the traffic rules, stay attentive on the road, avoid flouting the speed limit and always wear safety belt.
