Now, you can check eligibility for permanent residency via MoI link

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has provided a link to check if one is eligible to apply for a Permanent Residency Card.

The user needs to enter the Qatar ID number and the date of expiry on the form and click the submit button. The website will then tell you if you are eligible or not to apply for the Permanent Residency Card.

It shows a message “QID is not eligible to apply for Permanent Residency” if one is not eligible. If you are eligible it will specify the type of category for which you can apply and provides a link to apply.

It will show the message “QID is eligible to apply for Permanent Residency under below categories.”

The application for a permanent residence card is electronically submitted through the Ministry of Interior website.

The MoI has set four conditions for obtaining permanent residence, which include residency status for at least 20 years in Qatar or at least 10 years if the applicant was born in Qatar. The applicant must have sufficient income to meet his and his dependents’ needs.

Five categories have been exempted from the above mentioned conditions.

Children of a Qatari woman married to a non-Qatari man; non-Qatari husband of a Qatari woman; non-Qatari wife of a Qatari man; children of a Qatari by naturalisation; those who have provided great services to the state; and persons with special capabilities needed by the state.

There are exceptions to the military personnel and those who are born in Qatar, and those who have resided in Qatar for not less than 50 years.

The permanent residency card holders can enjoy rights and privileges such as health, education, investments among others.
