‘Person of interest’ in death of OFW in Saudi under investigation

The Philippine Consulate in Jeddah already has a “person of interest” in the death of an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia who was found dead in a hotel room three days after she was declared missing.

Consul General Edgar Badajos revealed that the unnamed person of interest was identified through a CCTV footage in the area where the crime happened.

Badajos said that the person of interest under investigation is not a Filipino.

The Consul General added that the Consulate is in continuous coordination with the family of the OFW regarding the progress of the case.

Earlier, Badajos reported the death of the unnamed 52-year-old OFW who had been working as a domestic helper in the Gulf state since 2007.

The OFW went missing three days before her body was found. Badajos said the Consulate is still coordinating with the authorities regarding the cause of death of the Filipina.

“We are saddened to learn about the passing under still unknown circumstances of one of our kababayan,” Consul General Edgar Badajos said.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) assured to extend necessary help to the family of the OFW.
