Mohammad Salah an Egyptian football star and a professional footballer recently won the award of Professional Footballer’s Association player of the year 2017-2018. He usually plays as a forward for English Club Liverpool and for his national team.
He was the first young Egyptian player who won this award in England. He beat Kevin de Bruyne, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, David Silva and David de Gea in the vote by fellow players.
Football is the most popular and most watched sports in Saudi Arabia. The people of the Arab world are crazy about this game and this news of Mohammad Salah success was one of the great good news for the Arab world.
This news was indeed a moment of pride for the whole Arab nation. Hence on this great achievement, the Deputy of Makah announced to offer a piece of land as a gift to Mohammad Salah on his success.
As said by Fahad Al Rooqi, he was awarded a plot of land to the Egyptian who has so far scored 41 goals in his first year and has achieved superstar status in England and across the world. The plot is his and he can use it for several options, it is his choice.
He added that the plot offered to him is all his and all the regulations depend upon him. He is allowed to own a land in Makkah, he can keep it or build a mosque or any charitable foundation, he is also allowed to sell the land and use the money for his benefit.
Al Rooqi explained this initial step was taken by him in order to support young people and to motivate them to take this young player as a source of inspiration and a role model. Salah is a good, hardworking and strategic player who plays with good techniques keeping his eyes on the goal.
He said the plot of land is a tribute to the Egyptian star known for his great morals and generous character. It is also in recognition of his merits as an ambassador of religious tolerance and ethical values and as a positive model for Muslims in Britain. We are all proud of him.
This was a great news for the people and they applauded the deputy mayor’s attitude and appreciated his generous gesture. Some people opposed it saying Salah has been generous towards the needy and that he did not need the plot of land or money.
Mohammad Salah is known as the legend and pride of the nation in Egypt as well as the Arab world. Egyptian actress Rasha Mahdi said, “Our son is the pride of Egypt, the Arab world, the Middle East and Africa. He is the pride of all dark-haired people.”
It is important to mention here that generally expatriates are not allowed to own a piece of land in the two holy cities of Saudi Arabia i.e. Makkah and Madina. Even if Salah opts to own this land, he will have to sell or donate it immediately.
