Footage of a man being slapped right in the middle of Mecca's Great Mosque sent Saudi tweeps into a meltdown earlier this week. 

In the video, a man can be seen suddenly attacking a pilgrim walking past him. The reasons behind the assault have yet to be confirmed but hundreds are now speculating the matter on social media. 

Many are also angered by the incident, especially given the fact that it took place in the holy site.

Before it went viral on Twitter, the person who shot the video uploaded it on Snapchat, captioning his post:

"A legendary clip. I was filming and suddenly this happens."

Social media users then spotted the post and shared it on Twitter, where it sparked fury.
