South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has slashed the price of its budget smartphones. The company has slashed the price of its Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 Prime in India. Both the smartphones were launched in September last year. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime which was launched at Rs 18,790 is now available at Rs 14,900, while the Galaxy J5 Prime is selling at Rs 12,990 after the price cut of Rs 1,800.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is available in Gold and Black colour variants. In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display of 1080x1920 pixel resolution secured with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Powering the device is a 1.6GHz octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It offers 16GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards of up to 256GB in size. The dual-sim smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Boasting of a fingerprint sensor, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime packs a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, along with an 8MP front-facing snapper for selfies. It is backed by 3300mAh battery and offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB OTG as connectivity options.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, on the other hand, features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) resolution display, a quad-core processor clubbed with 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage with microSD card support of up to 256GB, dual-sim support, fingerprint sensor and a 2400mAh battery.

Last month the company also announced that it is rolling out Android Nougat update for the Galaxy J7 Prime. The update weighs 1.09GB and bring features like improved notification panel, split screen, better battery optimisations, ability to reply from notifications and fresh Samsung UI which is seen in its flagship smartphone Galaxy S8. The report also suggests that the device should have minimum charge of 50% and 2GB of free space in order to install the update.
