Abu Dhabi Welcomes Back the Championship
The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship is set to return from November 5 to 8, 2026, bringing four days of international golf action to Yas Links. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour, the tournament marks the opening event of the season-ending play-offs. Around 70 leading available players from the Race to Dubai rankings are expected to compete. The championship will feature a 72-hole stroke-play format across four rounds. The event also highlights Abu Dhabi's growing reputation as a destination for major international sporting competitions.
World-Class Golfers Prepare for Competition
Several well-known names are expected to take part in this year's tournament, including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood. Defending champion Aaron Rai will also return to Yas Links to compete for another title. Other confirmed players include Patrick Reed, Adam Scott and Tyrrell Hatton. The presence of established champions and leading Race to Dubai contenders adds further attention to the competition. Fans can expect an intense contest as players look to deliver strong performances throughout the four days.
Race to Dubai Qualification Raises the Stakes
The championship carries importance beyond the tournament title, as players are also competing for places in the final event of the season. Following the Abu Dhabi competition, the top 50 available golfers in the Race to Dubai rankings will qualify for the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. This makes every round important for players hoping to remain in the season-ending contest. The tournament also features a total prize fund of $9 million. Strong performances at Yas Links could therefore have a major impact on the final rankings.
Yas Links Set for Four Days of Golf Action
Yas Links will once again provide the setting for the championship, combining its coastal course with facilities for visiting spectators. The event will include a Championship Village featuring family activities, food outlets and live entertainment. General admission is available free of charge on Thursday and Friday with advance registration. The tournament is expected to attract golf followers from across the UAE and international visitors. With the Race to Dubai title challenge approaching its conclusion, attention will remain firmly on Abu Dhabi throughout the championship.
