Dubai Gold Prices Near Dh500 as US Dollar Weakens After Midterm Elections

Gold prices in the UAE have recorded a significant recovery following a decline in the US dollar and Treasury yields after the American midterm elections. The global rally has brought renewed attention to Dubai's gold market, with 24-karat prices climbing towards the Dh500-per-gram mark. On November 4, the UAE's 24K gold rate reached Dh484 per gram, rising from Dh473 a day earlier. The 22K rate increased to Dh448.25, while 18K gold reached Dh368.50. The movement reflects changing investor sentiment in response to developments in the United States.

US Election Results Put Pressure on the Dollar

The Democratic Party's victories in the US midterm elections, including control of both chambers of Congress, contributed to a weaker dollar. The currency declined as investors assessed the possible economic and political consequences of the election results. US Treasury yields also moved lower, providing additional support to gold prices. Since gold does not generate interest, lower bond yields generally make the precious metal more attractive to investors. A weaker dollar also makes gold more affordable for international buyers.

Global Gold Prices Recover Above $4,000

International gold prices climbed above $4,000 per ounce during the rally, recovering from earlier market losses. On November 5, spot gold advanced further to around $4,135 per ounce, reaching its highest level since October 22. Investors are also monitoring developments in the Middle East, particularly discussions involving the United States and Iran. Changes in geopolitical conditions and oil prices continue to influence market expectations. These factors have contributed to fluctuations in gold prices over recent weeks.

What Could Influence Gold Prices Next?

Market attention is now turning towards upcoming US employment figures and Federal Reserve interest-rate decisions. Strong inflation data or expectations of higher interest rates could put pressure on gold, while lower yields may support further gains. Analysts are also watching developments in international energy markets and geopolitical negotiations. For UAE jewellery buyers, the movement towards Dh500 per gram remains an important price level to monitor. However, gold rates can change frequently depending on global market conditions and currency movements.
