Dubai's iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab hotel will close its doors soon. The operator plans to launch a massive 18-month restoration project. This famous seven-star hotel features a beautiful dhow sail silhouette. It dominates the Dubai skyline and shapes local culture.
Tristan Auer Leads the Design
Paris-based interior architect Tristan Auer will direct the upcoming design work. Jumeirah executives picked him after a rigorous and strategic selection process.
Auer previously restored the famous Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. He wants to refresh the interior while preserving its original character. Auer considers this massive project a profound privilege and responsibility.
Preserving a Historic Masterpiece
The 321-meter building sits on its own private island. It originally opened 27 years ago with 198 luxury suites. The stunning interior features marble, gold leaf, and Swarovski crystals.
The hotel boasts a massive spiral chandelier weighing 450 kilograms. Workers will carefully restore these historic artistic elements like a painting.
A New Chapter for Jumeirah
Jumeirah CEO Thomas B. Meier praised the exceptional property today. He promised the restoration team will carefully preserve the hotel's heritage. The company plans to elevate this global landmark for future generations.
