6-year-old boy wins hearts for rushing 'injured' chicken to hospital

The boy tried to help a chicken that he accidentally ran over with his bicycle.

A 6-year-old boy from Mizoram, India, is melting hearts online rushing a chicken to hospital after he accidentally ran his bicycle over it.

Derek C Lalchhanhima from Sairang does not know what social media is and that his kindness has gone viral. But what he tried with all his might and money to save the injured bird, oblivious that it was already dead.

In a Facebook post Derek's worried expression are clearly visible as he holds the chicken in one hand and a ten-rupee note in the other which he grabbed to treat the chicken.

The post has gone viral online and has collected over 100,000 reactions and over 10,000 comments. The picture was shared online by Facebook user Sanga Says who told NDTV that the boy's father first informed him about the incident.

 

"According to the father, the boy came home with the neighbour's chick that he had accidentally killed. He did not realise the chick is dead and begged his parents to take it to the hospital. His father told him to go himself, which he did with ten rupees," the Facebook user said.

The boy reached a local hospital where a nurse captured the viral picture. According to Sanga, Derek left the hospital sobbing and vowing to come back with a 100-rupee note. Touched by the boy's story one Facebook user wrote: 'God bless his pure and honest little heart', while another commented: 'This is heart-touching'.
