Expat Guide: When and How to Get a Return Visa to Qatar

Qatar allows expatriate residents to stay out of the country for SIX months. If you happen to overstay this period, then you will need a return visa or re-entry permit to get back to the country, subject to the validity of the Qatar ID, which is a proof of identity and valid residency permit of an expat.  The return visa has a validity of one month and the sponsored person has to enter the country within this time.
Overstayed?
There are three categories in the processing of return visa based on the nature of sponsorship and requirements for each slightly change.
 Qatari Personal Sponsorship
The visas in this category are issued to the housemaids and those in the same status. The fee is QR200. You need the below documents:
•    Application from the Sponsor
•    A clear photocopy of the Qatar ID of the person.
•    Copy of sponsor’s ID Card.
Expatriate Resident Personal Sponsorship
This visa is issued mainly for the family members of the expat residents and is charged QR 500.  Passport copy of the sponsored persons and the sponsoring person or his ID Card has to submitted along with the application form.
Corporate Sponsorship
In this category, visa is issued for the expat residents on the sponsorship of their companies and the fee is QR 500. Passport copy of the sponsored persons and the establishment card is needed with the application form.
You can process the return visa on arrival at the port of entry. If you don’t want to wait till that time, you can get it done at the Expat Affairs & MOI Services Centres, Metrash2 Mobile App or Ministry of Interior (MOI) E-Services Portal.
