How To Get A Work Permit In Qatar

Before you get into applying for a work permit understand that you need a sponsorship from a local to be able to work in Qatar. Your employer must be the one to sponsor you to work in Qatar, and the employer will also handle all the paper work and submit the application on your behalf.

 

Here’s all you need to know about getting a work permit in Qatar.

  1. First, you will get a temporary permit that will be valid for six months with which you can get a job in Qatar. Within three months of getting the temporary permit, you must fulfill all the dew documentation and formalities to acquire a work residency permit. The process of getting residency work permit takes around two to four weeks and in this duration, you won’t be able to leave the country.
  2. To apply for a residency work permit you will have to clear a mandatory health check-up; including a blood test and a chest x-ray. The results can be expected in three days. After your medical check-up, you will also have to get your fingerprints taken.
  3. After the above formalities, your employer’s PRO will arrange all the furnished details in a form and start the process of getting an ID card. You permit will be valid from one to three years, and you will be expected to carry your ID card with you. You will also need a police clearance certificate for a residency work permit.
  4. Remember, if you are out of the country for than 6 months at a stretch, your residency work permit will become invalid.
  5. You will need to get all your educational certificates authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and attested by Qatar embassy. This can also be done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha if you haven’t already done it in your home country.
  6. You can later sponsor your family after you get your residency work permit. Your marriage and children’s birth certificates also need to be authenticated.
  7. You can only get employment visa if you’re aged between 18 to 60 years old. For individuals over 60 years of age, a special approval will be required from Immigration.
