Ancient 4,000-Year-Old Water Network Discovered in China

Local authorities in central China discovered an ancient water channel system today. This artificial network dates back roughly 4,000 years.

The incredible find provides important evidence of early Chinese urban planning. It highlights the impressive organizational capacity of the Xia Dynasty. Officials announced this massive discovery during a recent archaeological forum. The special event showcased the latest historical finds across Henan Province.

Exploring the Ancient Trenches

Local archaeologist Ma Long currently leads the ongoing site excavations. He proudly identified two new artificial trenches from the early Xia Dynasty.

Each trench measures about three meters wide. They also stretch over 120 meters long. These primary trenches run directly from north to south.

Advanced Engineering Skills

A massive 10-meter-wide trench connects the two smaller channels perfectly together. The ancient builders formed a complete water supply and drainage network. This impressive engineering system also created a distinct spatial zoning layout.
