An 18-year-old girl and her lover ended their lives by jumping in front of a moving train near Cauvery Nagar in Mahadevapura on Thursday morning.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Madhu, 20, a labourer hailing from Kolar and a resident of Seegehalli in KR Puram, and Rekha, 18, a resident of Cauvery Nagar. Both were in a relationship for the past one year. 

Police said that the incident took place on Thursday around 6.30 am.  Madhu, who was living with his brother in K R Puram, went to Cauvery Nagar to meet Rekha. On the other hand, Rekha told her brother that she was going out to buy milk and would return soon. 

On meeting at Cauvery Nagar, the two came discussed and came to the conclusion that the chances of their parents agreeing to their relationship were faint. Hence, they decided to end their lives. They went to a railway track located in Cauvery Nagar and jumped in front of a moving train.

The incident came to light around 8 am when passersby found the bodies of the two lying on the track. The Cantonment railway police have taken up the case and are probing the matter.
