UAE Gold Rates Record a Sharp Increase
Gold prices in the UAE recorded a significant increase on Wednesday, November 4, following a rally in international markets. The 24-karat gold rate climbed to Dh484 per gram, rising by Dh11 compared with Tuesday's price of Dh473. The 22-karat category increased by Dh10.25 to Dh448.25 per gram. Meanwhile, 18-karat gold reached Dh368.50, while 14-karat gold rose to Dh287.25. The latest movement reflects changing global market conditions and growing investor interest in precious metals.
US Election Results Put Pressure on the Dollar
International gold prices rose by around 2.42 per cent, moving above $4,025 an ounce during Wednesday's trading session. The increase followed early US midterm election results that favoured Democratic candidates. The US dollar weakened, while Treasury yields declined across different maturities. The dollar recorded a fall of as much as 0.4 per cent, marking its sharpest decline in two months. A weaker dollar generally supports gold prices by making the metal more affordable for buyers using other currencies.
Falling Bond Yields Support Gold Demand
Market analysts said the combination of a softer dollar and lower bond yields helped strengthen gold's appeal. Since gold does not provide interest income, falling Treasury yields can make it more attractive compared with interest-bearing investments. Investors are also monitoring political and economic uncertainty in the United States. Early election trends have raised expectations of a possible shift in congressional control. These developments have added to demand for gold as investors assess the direction of financial markets.
US-Iran Developments Keep Market Outlook Uncertain
Developments involving the United States and Iran are also influencing movements in the precious metals market. Both countries are reportedly reviewing proposals aimed at preventing a return to wider conflict. However, reports of limited US airstrikes on Iran have added to geopolitical uncertainty. Changes in oil prices and inflation expectations could further influence gold's direction. Analysts expect prices to remain volatile as investors follow political developments, energy markets and signals from the US Federal Reserve.
