The government today said any proposal by Qatar Airways for FDI would be allowed only after proper examination, said a top government official today.

"In general, we welcome FDI. As far as a specific proposal is concerned that proposal has to follow the approval route... I can not predict that. The government process will examine," aviation Secretary R N Choubey told reporters today in response to whether a foreign airline with an investment partner can own 100 per cent of an air .

The announcement was post the government allowing 100 per cent FDI in aviation sector but did not increase the limit for foreign airlines from the existing 49 per cent.
