Qatar condemns Pakistan blast

Qatar on Friday condemned the explosion that took place in a local market Quetta in the West of Pakistan, leaving a number of people killed. In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Qatar''s firm position rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motivations and reasons.

The statement offered Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, the government, and people of Pakistan. At least 20 people were killed and 48 wounded by the suicide blast.

A faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed the attack. The group said it collaborated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), which has been behind numerous bloody attacks on Shiite Muslims in Pakistan. There was no immediate confirmation from LeJ.
