Ranveer Singh's Blockbuster Franchise Dhurandhar Faces a Modest Opening Weekend in Japan

The highly successful Indian action franchise Dhurandhar recently expanded its impressive global reach into the Japanese theatrical market. The film arrived in Japan after an enthusiastic promotional campaign, but the initial box office response remained surprisingly quiet during its opening weekend. Trade reports indicate the film recorded roughly 900 admissions across 80 different theater locations.

These modest numbers kept the film just outside of the top 25 Japanese box office charts for the weekend. The movie also narrowly missed breaking into the top ten highest opening days for Indian films in the region, falling just short of the 1,300 admissions previously recorded by Salman Khan's Tiger 3.

A Massive Global Cinematic Legacy

Despite the quiet start in Japan, the franchise remains an absolute titan of modern Indian cinema. The second installment, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, currently ranks as the second highest-grossing Indian film ever made. The movie earned a staggering 1,813 crore rupees worldwide, trailing only behind the massive success of Aamir Khan's Dangal.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the franchise features a brilliant ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh. The studio remains incredibly proud of the profound global impact the series continues to generate, proving that Indian action cinema has a highly dedicated international audience.
