US Military Sees Signs of North Korea Preparing for New Missile Test

The official said vehicles carrying equipment for the missile launch had been seen in North Korea's Kusong city in central North Pyongan province, the CNN broadcaster reported on Monday.

The launch may occur within six days after such equipment has been seen, according to the broadcaster, and could coincide with July 27, the anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War.

North Korea has carried out a number of missile launches and nuclear tests in recent months, all of which are considered to be in violation with relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The latest launch was carried out on July 4, when Pyongyang announced the successful launch of its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Hwasong-14, which traveled 933 kilometers (580 miles) before falling into the Sea of Japan.
