Nora Fatehi Is Not an Accused in Sukesh Chandrashekhar Case, Says Legal Team

Nora Fatehi's Lawyers Clarify Her Role in the Case

Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi's legal team has clarified that she is not an accused in the extortion case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The statement followed proceedings at Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on November 2, 2026, where Fatehi had been summoned to appear as a witness. Her representatives stressed that she has not been accused of committing any offence in these proceedings. They said her presence was requested solely to assist the court. The clarification aims to distinguish her role as a witness from that of the individuals facing charges.

Legal Team Explains Her Absence From Court

According to her lawyers, Fatehi received the summons at short notice and could not attend because of prior professional commitments. Her advocates appeared before the court and submitted an application seeking exemption from her personal appearance. The court subsequently adjourned the matter to November 6, 2026, and issued fresh summons for her attendance. Reports also indicated that the court expressed displeasure over her absence. Her legal team has maintained that she was called as a witness, not as an accused.

What Is the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Case?

The case centres on allegations that Chandrashekhar operated an extortion scheme while lodged in Delhi's Rohini Jail. Investigators allege that he impersonated senior government officials and extorted approximately ₹200 crore. The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing investigated the matter, and charges were filed under relevant criminal laws, including the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. The proceedings involve allegations against Chandrashekhar and other individuals. The case has drawn considerable public attention because of its scale and reported links to prominent personalities.

Nora Fatehi Was Previously Questioned

Fatehi's name emerged during an earlier stage of the investigation, when authorities questioned her about her interactions with Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose. Her statement was subsequently recorded, and she was included as a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet. She reportedly told investigators that her interactions with Chandrashekhar took place through his wife. Her legal team's latest clarification reiterates that she is participating in the proceedings as a witness. The next scheduled court appearance is November 6, 2026.
