Social media users who abuse government agencies will face penalties of imprisonment and a fine, local media reported.
He told Al-Hayat daily that it is a crime to produce, send or store content that disrespects public order, religious values, public morals or privacy.
This is punishable by a prison term not exceeding five years, and a fine not exceeding SR3 million ($800,000), he said.
It is also a crime to publish anything in any media that contravenes Shariah law, infringes security and public order, or serves foreign interests that run counter to the national interest, he added.
