5. Entertain

People love to laugh. Humor works. Below one of my favorite comedians Zach Galifianakis tweets a clever quip about love and what it means to him. It’s humorous because it’s something we all relate to. Remember even humor is about connecting to each other as humans. Humor at it’s core is based in love. It’s an essential need.

Guess where these 5 things come from? You. Yes, you. Try not to overthink. Too many people get caught up in their posts. If you have a gut instinct that you want to post something, it’s more often than not right. There actually is an art to it. And art is not perfect. Art is flawed. We like seeing the quirks people have and the mistakes they make. It makes them more human. We relate to that. At the end of the day the most successful social media entrepreneurs are staying connected to who they are, they are being spontaneous and unpredictable, and they are involving, informing, inspiring, intriguing, and entertaining the reader. Isn’t this the basis for all theater and film? It seems to me there’s a striking similarity between social media, theater, film, and all of literature. That similarity? It’s rather simple. They are all forms of storytelling. And this brings me to the biggest secret of all. They all are rooted in our desire to connect with one other. Human connection is universal.
