QRCS to start Ramadan Iftar project in Qatar

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is opening its Ramadan Iftar tents on Monday, in 15 neighborhoods, and starting to distribute snacks on the run during the Maghreb time.

Over the holy month of Ramadan, these activities are estimated to benefit 129,990 fasting persons in total.

QRCS set up 15 Ramadan Iftar tents with a capacity of 2,133 visitors per day, or 63,990 over a month. The locations were selected to be convenient for the beneficiaries, including two locations in Al-Wakrah, two locations in Al-Khor, Al-Aziziyah, Old Airport, Al-Hilal, Al-Mansoura, Al-Rayyan, Al-Luqta, Industrial Area, Al-Duhail, and Umm Salal Muhammed.

Iftar meals will be distributed for the workers of remote farms, as follows: Al-Shahaniyah (500 per day, or 15,000 over a month), and Mesaieed (300 per day, or 9,000 over a month).

QRCS’s volunteers will launch an on-the-run Iftar program, distributing snacks to drivers at the Maghreb time, to ensure safety on road. The plan covers six locations, with a total of 1,000 meals per day, or 30,000 over 30 days.

In cooperation with Arab communities in Qatar, QRCS’s volunteers will distribute 200 meals per day to Sudanese residents in Abu Hamourand another 200 donated by Anadoul Restaurant to Tunisian residents, totaling 6,000 each.

The distributions and tents will be managed by a group of 150 volunteers. This is a fundamental contribution by QRCS’s volunteers every year. The locations are well-distributed, particularly the open areas that attract many families and kids.
